The South Central game brought a lot of things. It brought excitement. It brought sorrow. It brought heartache, but more than anything it brought the people of Salina together, whether they were watching it on t.v. or live at Salina Stadium, for a few of hours Salinans experienced a phenomenal game. With the football team’s last minute loss they move to 5-2 and face Great Bend in what could be a “win or go home” game in district play.

It’s that time of the year again, district play is now upon us. Luckily, the football team carries a head of steam into this Friday night’s game vs. South. After destroying Newton last week 49-20 the Mustangs will have a good chance of making the playoffs once again with a victory over the Cougars. Regardless, it always seems to be a night many remember as the game of the year.

After a disappointing loss to the Hutch Salthawks doubt may have been brought into the minds of Mustang fans about how good their football team really is but, just like that the Mustangs beat a Maize team who in the mind of many are better than their record shows. Leaving doubters in the dust and post-season wishing Mustang fans to keep dreaming sweet dreams. After their win against the Eagles the Mustangs prepare to take on Newton Friday at Salina Stadium.
